My educational journey began back in 2005 while I was still in the military. I enrolled in Keiser Universities Bachelors of Science in Network Security and Administration online program. After I was injured, I knew that the networking field was too hands on for me to succeed in that career field so I decided to swap over to the software development side. After I was medically retired from the military I decided to enroll in Hillsborough community colleges Associates of Science in Computer programming. After receiving my Associates I continued working on the prerequisites for University of South Florida's Bachelors in software engineering. It was around this time that I picked up my first job as a Mobile software developer. I continued to take some classes off and on while working there and while working as a Java and Mainframe developer in my next job. Once I was ready, I decided to go back to school full time to finish a Bachelor's of Science at USF.
Although I stated previously that my education started previously in 2005, I truly began my education in 2000 when I enrolled in the US Coast Guard. During my six years in the Coast Guard, I learned many things. I learned how to be a Leader and how to be a follower. I learned how to mentor and how to take control of the situation when necessary and when to listen and let someone else take control when necessary. I also learned how to communicate and how to speak in front of an audience. Most importantly, when I was in the military, when I was in school and when I am working in a job. Whether I am working with a superior, reading new technologies in a book, watching online tutorials, or diving into something new and learning as I go. I always continue to pursue education by any means possible.
